Anxiety Land

Today I’m reading 2 Corinthians 11:28 where the Apostle Paul describes all the ordeals he has faced as a representative of Christ and concludes by saying, “Besides everything else, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches.”

Anxiety isn’t anything new - this free floating worry that follows us around like a shadow. But our age seems to be more afflicted by anxiety because we live in a general state of crisis where every issue is magnified by the constant media barrage – and the speed of life which brings with it it’s own kind of anxiety.

Constant crises in the world around us. Constant busyness in our own lives. So many things we can’t control. Forces that impact us – traffic jams for example – that we cannot do anything about.  And yet they mess up our carefully planned schedules.

I just got a new book called “Crazy Busy” by Kevin DeYoung. I’m looking forward to reading it and seeing if he has any good advice. If I can find the time to read it.

What’s your strategy for coping with anxiety? How does prayer affect your worries? How do you create space in your life for God to enter in?

Let me know your way of recovering strength and moving forward.

“Worrying is carrying tomorrow's load with today's strength- carrying two days at once. It is moving into tomorrow ahead of time. Worrying doesn't empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.” –  Corrie ten Boom
