Simplicity 5

Today I’m reading Psalm 73:23-26.

Nevertheless I am continually with you;
you hold my right hand.
You guide me wih your counsel;
and afterward you will receive me with honor.
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth
that I desire other than you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.

I think the quest for simplicity is reflected in all the statements below. Which one resonates most within your heart?

Who am I? This or the other? Am I one person today, and tomorrow another? Am I both at once?... Who am I? They mock me, these lonely questions of mine. Whoever I am, thou knowest, O God, I am thine. Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945)

It was through loving myself in the wrong way that I lost myself; by seeking you alone and loving you sincerely, I have found both myself and you. Thomas a’Kempis (1380-1471)

I need peace and silence to give free play to this quickening flame of prayer. "The Way of the Pilgrim" Anonymous - 19th century.

God the Creator arranged things so that we need each other. Basil of Caesarea (330-379 AD)

Have a blessed weekend!
